MASon Stansfield.

 Time.

It slapped me in the face and called me back into high school.

A dear friend, a intelligent human,

Comical, loving, red headed, big hearted man…young man…

Mason Stansfield.

Mason Stansfield.

I remember the warm pool deck on my feet and the smell of chlorine that took up most of my time in high school…I’m particularly talking about the pool at Rio Mesa High School.

I remember Mason at our water polo matches we had together and his talent of being left-handed. Most guys at our time were right-handed but with Mason…his left hand was a skill that came in handy, a secret weapon that could throw the goalie off his shot.

I remember Mason crushing so hard on my best friend Courtney with his glistening puppy dog eyes and always asking me for advice or tips on getting an “in” with her.

I remember Mason.

As I remember Mason, I remember a conversation I had with my father on the phone when I talked to him about his passing.

My father comforted me and told me how as time passes, loved ones will pass and those experiences we have with them will come too.

We chatted for a while and as we conversed, I remembered the movie “Stand By Me”.

A scene towards the ending where a once young man turned into a working father, typing on his computer about his childhood experiences…

If I could express how I feel to the family who lost this beautiful soul it would be the feeling of the ending of that movie…
