Living in Hawaii and self educating myself on the deep rooted issues that continue on the island is a side project of great importance to me.
I took a ghost tour to educate myself about the queen and how she was forcibly removed from power, I watched people protest about the Mauna Kea telescope, I listened to local organizers trying to educate their own people on issues their people face…I participated in silence.
As time progresses and their struggles still endure, I am saddened that the people lost a beautiful leader but I am joyful because I know her spirit will live on.
